Last weekend we took a trip up to Savannah, GA. We went with Josh and Shannon. I was excited to go since I've been wanting to see Savannah for a long time. On friday night we drove to Jacksonville and spent the night at Tyler's parents' house. Then saturday morning we left for Savannah. We stayed at the Mulberry hotel, which historically was a cotton gin and later a Coca-Cola factory and now a hotel.
My favorite thing that we did was the bus tour. It took us around the 24 town squares and through many streets of the historic town. We commented a lot about the architecture of the buildings and imagined ourselves living there.
I loved the mossy tress in the city- although I guess we have those here in Gainesville too. It's just that so many mossy trees still seem like a novelty to me.
After the bus tour, we got sandwiches at a café and then we went to Paula Deen's restaurant to make a reservation for dinner. It was a 4 hour wait!!! During the afternoon it rained really hard. We all got wet and went back to the hotel to change clothes.
We walked around the town and visited the cemetery, the Catholic church, and the place where Forest Gump sat on his bench and ate his chocolates. Dinner at Paula Deen's was fun. The food was good and it was fun to be at the restaurant of such a famous chef. After dinner, we went down to the river walk and shopped around. Then later we went to Leopold's Ice Cream Parlor for dessert. It's ranked 5th best ice cream parlor in the nation!
Then next morning we woke up and drove into South Carolina, just to say that we've been there! Now I'm one state closer to reaching my goal of making it to all 50 states in my life.
It was a great trip. We loved Savannah and it was so fun to spend time with Shannon and Josh.

Looks like such a fun time! Was Paula Deen's worth the wait?! :)
