Our upstairs neighbor had the hard wood floors refinished in her apartment on Saturday morning. We share the same ventilation and by Saturday afternoon, the smell was giving us all headaches and we knew we needed to get out of the house. We didn't want the polyurethane to harm our kids. Unfortunately, our neighbor didn't leave any windows to her apartment open and had left for the weekend. We called our management company to ask if someone could come over and open the windows, in hopes that it would air out faster, but they said they couldn't do that since it was a Saturday.
So we decided that we should err on the side of caution and leave our apartment for the weekend. We drove to Sylvan beach, which is just a little beach to the east of Houston and stayed in a hotel there. We toured the Houston Yacht Club and had a fun time looking at all the sailboats, and then we spent the evening playing in the sand. They boys had so much fun, and so did Tyler and I. We were glad that things worked out the way that they did because it gave us a chance to relax and spend time together.
